โœฆ Synopsis

Source of material: The title compound was prepared by melting the elements at 1300 K and cooling to room temperature in 21 hours. BaAu0.3Ga3.7 crystallizes in the BaAl4 structure type (see ref. 1). Au- and Ga-atoms form square pyramides connected by common edges to twodimensional layers, which are tied together by Au/Ga -Au/Ga bonds. Interatomic distances are: d(Ba-Au/Ga) = 3.477(2) A -3.542 A, d(Ba- Ba) = 4.551 A, d(Au/Ga-Au/Ga) = 2.632(5) ร„ -3.218 ร„. Tetragonal, I4/mmm (no 139), a = 4.55(1), c = 10.86(3) A, V = 225.0 A3, Z = 2, R = 0.046.
