✦ Synopsis
The title compound (C 10 H 10 O 2 Br 2 ) crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P2 1 2 1 2 1 with a = 5.0319(2)Å, b = 13.5282(5)Å, c = 15.6289(6)Å, V = 1063.90(1)Å 3 , Z = 4, D x = 2.01 g/cm 3 at T = 293(2)K. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least-squares procedures to final R = 0.078 and wR = 0.140 using 1212 observed reflections with [I ≥ 2σ(I)]. The title compound as a whole is not planar. The crystal structure is stabilized by hydrogen contacts and weak van der Waals interactions.
