Cl7H2IN$OI(CH3)2SO2 SHzO, M r -474.6, triclinic, P1, a -11.990!4), b -12.380(1;), o -9.342(3)i, a -83.92(5), 6 -79.99(3 124l(l)l( , 2 -2, D, -1.27 gcm-, HoKa, A -0.71069 1: p = 1.38 m-l, F ( 0 0 0 ) -1020, T -291K, R -0.056 for 2854 observed reflections. The title peptide (GLT) adopts an anti-parallel pleated-sheet conformation, very similar to that found in the copper (11) complex of this peptide(1). This confirms that the conformation of this peptide is affected only very slightly by the solvatation. The Leu side-chain of molecule B takfs a conformation characterized by XI --178', X Z ~ -152' and x 2 2 --85 , which is only observed in D-Leu residue.
