โฆ Synopsis
Single crystals of REBa2Cu307.y (RE=Y, La, Pr, Nd and Sm) have been grown successfully by the travelling-solvent floating-zone (TSFZ) method. It is important to use low-oxygen-pressure atmosphere and the twice-scanning method for successful growth procedure. Low-oxygen-pressure atmosphere can lead to the stable molten-zone and the growth at lower temperature.

Superconducting YBa2Cu~O7 crystals have been grown using a BaO-CuO flux. The morphology of the crystals shows a clear dependence on the flux composition and on the growth conditions. Cube like crystals and platelets with a size of some millimeters are grown.
