✦ Synopsis


In order to clarify the suitable growth condition of the single crystalline Bi2Sr2CaCu208 (2212phase). the phase diagram in the KCl flux is studied. The first conclusion is that addition of excess (CaO+CuO) causes an instability of the solid phase against cooling. Secondly. the 2212phase becomes unstable by increasing the KCl content at a fixed temperature. In a proper condition. block-like crystals grow from the deposits at the bottom. and platelets on top of the melts. The characteristics and growth mechanisms of these crystals are investigated.
