β¦ Synopsis
Crystal growth, optical absorption, emission spectra and fluorescence decay times of calcium-and vanadium-doped Gd,Ga,O,, garnet are reported. The observed optical spectra are assigned to V4+ ions in octahedral and tetrahedral sites. A broad red luminescence in the 600-800 nm region is shown to be due to the only octahedral V4+ impurity ions.
