โฆ Synopsis
The formability of oxide phases RI23(RBa~Cu30~+~:) and R211 with ~re earth element has been studied. R123 forms line compound with Er, Ha, Dy and Gd, but has a solubility in lhe systems with Eu, Sin, Nd, Pr and La. When the stoichiometric Nd123 was heat treated at 1173K, fine BaCuO,. phase pr,rcipitated in the matrix and t.t.e intra critical current density increased remarkably. The same type of R211 phase with v211 forms ii, 8 rare earth systems. In the Nd and La systems, R211 phase has a solubility and the dilferent crystal structure (PI/rnbm) from that of )'211.

It is concluded from detailed investigations on rare-earth-substituted 1113-system CaBaLa1 \_xRxCu307\_6 (R = Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Er, Ho, Dy, Yb and Tm) that only R=Pr and Nd have a complete range of solid solubility (0~<x~< 1.0). Among other rareearth ions, only Sm (x ~ 0.8 ) and Eu (x ~< 0.6) have
