โœฆ Synopsis

Industrial applications of superconducting magnets

The future prospects for superconducting magnets in high energy physics, power generation and transmission, and high speed transportation have been studied in some depth. Less frequently discussed are the possible applications of superconducting techniques to industrial processes. A study group at the Electrical Research Association, Leatherhead, Surrey, UK has recently published a report assessing possible industrial applications. The report 'ERA 74-5109 Industrial Applications of Superconducting Magnets' was originally commissioned as a confidential study but is now available for genera! distribution.
