✦ Synopsis
The electromagnetic force of above i0 MN/m will acts on the helical coils in the Large Helical Device. To investigate the deformation property of the helical coils, the coil pack which consists of 16 superconductors was prepared and the compressive mechanical test was carried out at 4.2 K. Also, the apparent rigidity was discussed based on the mixture law. As the results, the gaps between the electric insulation spacer and the superconductor yield a remarkable hysteresis on the compresive load-deformation curve on the first cycle and the estimation result of the coil pack rigidity gives a good agreement with the experimental one.
