✦ Synopsis

The cross section of the reaction 'YJ(n, ,)zasU has been measured in the neutron energy range 0.12-7.6 MeV. Neptunium-239 from the decay of aseU was chemically extracted and counted to determine the reaction rate. The neutron flux was measured relative to the neutron-proton scattering cross section. The results obtained generally had an accuracy of 5 per cent and help to decide between previous conflicting results in some energy regions.
