Abstract

Plant oils are an important renewable resource for the chemical industry and will help to reduce CO~2~ emissions and contribute to a sustainable development of our future. Chemically efficient as well as cost‐effective reactions and processes are now being developed to achieve this goal, metathesis being one of them. This feature briefly describes the possibilities of cross‐metathesis reactions with oleochemicals, discussing general aspects of cross‐metathesis reactions, evaluating current pros and cons, and highlighting recent developments.
