β¦ Synopsis
The present paper deals with the analysis of whirling of flexible shafts, taking into account the presence of a concentrated mass and intermediate supports.
It is shown that the Rayleigh-Schmidt approach is an extremely useful tool for this type of problem also, in view of its inherent simplicity and good engineering accuracy.
