โœฆ Synopsis

The Kerr effect of different concentrations of n-octanol/octane and ndecanol/decane systems has been measured. The experimental values of the induced birefringence show that both systems behave according to the Kerr law. The experimental values also show that the specific Kerr constant B, increases rapidly as a function of the number density from a critical value p,., which was found to be the same for both systems studied.
