โœฆ Synopsis

The critical currents of superconducting niobium-tantalum alloys were measured as a function of applied magnetic field and temperature for specimens in the form of a ribbon. The specimens had been tempered in ultra high vacuum at high temperature to eliminate the majority of defects. The results show that the critical current increases with decreasing Ginzburg-Landau parameter K. This phenomenon can be explained by statistical fluctuations in the concentration of the alloys.
