β¦ Synopsis
Critical currents in cylindrical granular AI thin films of different thicknesses and electron mean free paths have been measured as a function of temperature.
Experimental values of critical current Ic in all specimens are less than the theoretical pair-breaking current. The observed temperature dependence of Ic is in agreement with the theoretical one near the critical temperature, but not at lower temperatures. Effects of the manner in which the current terminals are attached to the specimen and of a deliberately applied weak spot on Ic have been investigated. The dependence of Ic on the rise time and the width of the pulse current has been studied.
