โฆ Synopsis
The article discusses the prevalence of crime in Barbados and stresses the need to develop and implement a series of strategies to reduce crime on the island. It shows that criminal activity is rising in Barbados and that there is every potential for the situation to get out of hand if serious efforts are not made to arrest the situation. The article proposes a number of strategies to minimize the incidence and prevalence of crime and discusses them in three broad categories, namely, prevention, reparation and retribution, and rehabilitation. The article indicates that, central to all the strategies, is the need for adequate research and the continuous monitoring and evaluation of any measures and/or policies developed and implemented to tackle crime in Barbados.
