β¦ Synopsis
This paper develops an approximate method for determining the stresses and strains in a plate with a circular hole subjected to axial tension and accompanied by creep (Fig. 1). Plates with holes subjected to creep are found in bolted and riveted connections of aircraft and other constructions operating at. elevated temperatures. Lack of symmetry makes an exact analysis of this problem difficnlt. For this reason an approximate theory was developed.
