โฆ Synopsis
Royal Philips Electronics is acquiring Dresden-based multi-band wireless LAN chip maker Systemonic. The deal should close in the first quarter of 2o03 but no financial terms are available. Currently the company's semi division supplies 802.11b radios and baseband/MAC chips to some OEMs. Philips' 802.11b solution will, in fact, be powering the wireless LAN connectivity in the first laptops to ship next year with Inters new Banias Mobile Platform. Later in 2003, Banias will use Inters own dual-band chips.
