The stress intensity factor, K has been successfully used as a measure of fracture toughness, and stress intensity factor range, AK, correlates well with fatigue crack growth rate. This paper gives a deductive logic to demonstrate rigorously that, in the case of small-scale yielding, K and AK are ca
