โฆ Synopsis
Acceptance of programs on magnetic tape
Until recently the CPC Program Library requested authors to send their program, after acceptance for publication, as a consecutively numbered card deck.
The library has developed the expertise to read magnetic tape written by most computers. It will therefore now be acceptable for authors to send their program as consecutively numbered card images on ~-inch 7track or 9-track magnetic tape. The exact format should be specified on a form which will be supplied by the library when the program description is accepted for publication.
It is recommended that magnetic tape should be used for all programs or packages involving more than two thousand cards. In particular it should be used when the program has to be copied from a disc file as cards punched by a computer are very liable to contain random errors.
Mini reels, containing 200 to 600 ft. of tape, in a rigid plastic container are easy to package and lightweight for postage.
