โฆ Synopsis
eaders familiar with the Journal of College Counseling (JCC) will immediately notice the journal's new front cover, displayed for the first time in this issue. The updated cover designates a milestone: the launch of the journal's 2nd decade of publication. Although the design is new, it also maintains journal tradition with its portrayal of ancient Greek architecture found on many college campuses. Inside, there can be found a similar blend of journal tradition and innovation. The mission of JCC remains the same: advancing the college counseling knowledge base and informing the day-to-day practice of counseling professionals in the 2-and 4-year college and university context. However, the sections and the offering of articles have been fine-tuned.
The Research section, still the journal's mainstay, remains. In fact, authors will notice that the page limit for submitted research manuscripts has been expanded to a maximum of 25 pages. This will allow authors of both quantitative and qualitative studies sufficient room to review the literature, fully present their studies, and explain both implications for practice and research limitations. The Professional Issues and Innovative Practice sections have been combined. The journal now will offer one solidly built section with conceptual, discussion, and practice articles that inform the profession and its clinical methods.
Although not usually based on formal research studies, these major articles have great potential to guide the work of college counselors. Consequently, the page limit for this newly combined section has also been expanded to 25 pages to allow authors space to draw on the relevant literature, thoroughly present their concepts, and introduce new practices.
Readers will also find a brand-new resource complementing these sections: College Counseling Case Studies. In this new section, invited authors will present single-client cases. College Counseling Case Studies articles will be published in JCC to advance the professional development of college counseling practitioners and illustrate important aspects of college counseling practice. The addition of case studies is a response to reader interest and professional calls for greater inclusion of single-participant studies and articles in the literature. These articles will be of a clinical nature and are highly valued for their role in facilitating college counselors' clinical growth. At the same time, authors of published case studies will be expected to write with great care and to take appropriate steps to safeguard their clientele's confidentiality. Unlike other JCC articles, case studies submissions are accepted only by invitation from the editors. If interested in publishing a case study, contact the editor at [email protected]; do not submit an unsolicited case studies manuscript.
