Abstract
The cover highlights many of the contributions to the Special Section on Bionanotechnology in this issue. In their Editorial on p. 3085, guest editors Hong Yang and Younan Xia consider the relevance of nanomaterials in biomedical research. With time the focus of research has shifted from the development of synthetic methods for high‐quality nanomaterials and understanding of their physical properties to the exploration of unique applications enabled by nanomaterials. Papers from many leading scientists in the field provide insight into the current state of bionanotechnology, and possibly inspiration for future avenues of research.
