✦ Synopsis

A manifestly &rentz covariant form of Faraday'8 law L preaenkd. This leada to a general expreaaion of the electromotive force iruluced in a cirouit moving in an arbitrary manner, inclwling deformations, aa determined by an observer in uniform motion in the given reference frame. This quantity is a Lorentz a&r, but it dependa on the atate of motion of the observer. It is alao ahown that only changes in the gwmetrkal aurve ma&r for the determination of the electromotive force, and not the actual motion of the circuit along the curve.

Various approaches to motion-induced emf are compared; results pertaining to di$erent frames of reference are obtained and the relevant measurement possibilities are investigated using a specijic example.
