✦ Synopsis

A theory of dissociative recombination has been developed which makes possible an investigation of this process in connection with the problem of scattering of slow electrons by molecular ions. The simultaneous influence of direct (non-reson~ce) interaction and ~homogeReit~ of the efectron continuum (due IO the mukichannei character of eiectron motion in the field of a molecular ion) is taken into account. The results obtained complement the rcsonancc configuration interaction theory based on the Bardsky method and are important for interpreting the experimental data.

Analytical possibilities of the continued fraction method are demonstrated by solving two problems connected with a description of slow electron resonance scattering by positive molecular ions. Using the rotation adiabatic approximation, exact solutions of the multiquantum vibrational transition pro
