✦ Synopsis
Reviews
bodies, and plasticity and large elastic deformations of anisotropic bodies.
In Chapter 1, the general equations of anisotropic elasticity are presented. In Chapter 2, solutions for the simplest cases of elastic equilibrium are offered without derivation. Chapter 3 deals with the state of stress in cylindrical bodies possessing rectilinear anisetrophy of a general form. In this chapter, the author presents his extension to the anisetropic case of N. I. Muskhelishvili's work in the plane theory of elasticity.
Chapter 4 delves into the same basic problems as Chapter 3, for the cases where the bodies possess cylindrical anisotropy. Chapter 5 concerns itself with the bending of an anisetropic cantilever; Chapter 6, with the symmetric deformation and torsion of bodies of revolution.
An extensive bibliography on anisotropie elasticity, consisting mainly of Soviet works published before 1950, appears at the end of the monograph. The translater has taken no liberties with the author's style or intent, deviating from a literal translation only to avoid awkward reading, but without sacrificing the meaning.
