An error was made in the description of the legend for Figure . It was stated that firing associated with place fields located on arm 4 in the Double Rotation condition occurred only during outward runs. This proved to be a program error. Cell 2 fired during outward runs, but cells 1, 3, and 4 only during inward runs.

The extent to which small ensembles of neighboring hippocampal neurons alter their spatial firing patterns concurrently in response to stimulus manipulations was examined in young adult rats as well as in aged rats with and without memory impairment. Recordings from CA1 and CA3 cells were taken as r
