✦ Synopsis

Ah&act-The results of a study dealing with the location of stable corrector methods for the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations are reported. From each family of corrector methods of the order q + 1 which require function evaluations at q backpoints (3 < q I 8). methods are given for which the size of a relative stability disk was numerically optimized. The resulting methods are also shown to have larger regions of absolute stability than do the corresponding Adams-Moulton correctors.

Based on the simplest well-known integration rules (such as the forward Euler scheme and the "classical" Runge--Kutta method), an extension is proposed to enlarge the real stability boundary. The main characteristic of the resulting schemes is that the computational complexity is hardly increased.

The main limitation to the accuracy of the detection of a bridge deflection using laser-based optical solutions is atmospheric turbulence because of the laser beam propagation in ground proximity. The multi-beam method is presented to increase the stability of bridge deflection measurement. It is ba
