โฆ Synopsis
The breakdown of the lmpulsc appro\imabon for K-shell electrons in electron Compton scaHermg mcasurcments on solrds IS puametenzed III P form which makes 11 possible to PSSCSS the Importance of this effect and whcrc ncccssary to apply a suttablc correction Recent experiments have shown that by usmg an electron microscope it IS possible to carry out accurate electron Compton scattermg (ECOSS) experiments on sohds [ I] In these experiments a beam of highenergy electrons, typically ==I00 keV, IS scattered through an angle of =:5O by the electrons within the sample. An energy analysis of the scattered electrons then allows one to determine the Compton profile. This technique promises to provide a powerful probe of electron momentum densities of solids. The incident-beam flux
