In the last issue of CI Review, Cliff Kalb's "President's Message" noted an important address by Proctor & Gamble Chairman John Pepper at SCIP's 1999 CEO Roundtable. In this issue, we are pleased to present Chairman Pepper's remarks outlining the evolving nature of CI as a major multinational player. Pepper also discusses the crucial role CI plays as P&G undergoes a fundamental restructuring to remain competitive in today's faster, globalized markets. But that's not the only must read in this issue. In "Key Intelligence Topics: A Window on the Corporate Competitive Psyche," Dave Francis and Jan Herring elaborate on issues raised in Herring's enormously wellreceived article on "KITS" in issue 10(2). This time, the authors detail how the results of KIT interviews with 12 client companies demonstrate how KITs reveal a company's competitive "personality"-and hence the types of CI activities that may work best.
