โœฆ Synopsis

Coronary atherosclerosis remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality following cardiac transplantation. Coronary artery bypass grafting, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, and directional coronary atherectomy have all been presented as attempted treatment options in this population with generally suboptimal results. Endovascular stenting is a new transcatheter treatment modality with unique potential advantages as compared to other transcatheter revascularization techniques. This report presents the use of endovascular stenting and 6-mo follow-up in two orthotopic cardiac transplant recipients with proximal stenotic posttransplant graft atherosclerosis.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection is an uncommon cause of acute coronary syndromes. It occurs in three major groups: in young women in the peripartum period, in patients with atherosclerotic disease, and in an idiopathic group. There are a number of associated conditions, but the pathogenesis r

We report on a case of coronary perforation during stenting of a saphenous vein graft with a biliary stent. Sealing of the perforation was achieved with another btltary stent deployed within the first stent at the site of the perforation, and with prolonged balloon inflation. This case illustrates t

We report a successful percutaneous closure of a brisk coronary artery rupture with a custom-made "vein graft stent," a Palrnaz-Schatz stent covered with a vein graft. This method is an elegant and effective alternative to the traditional surgical approach and should be considered whenever technical

Twenty-five years ago, fatalities due to acute thrombotic coronary occlusion occurring during coronary angiography were reported not infrequently, but are thought to have been eliminated by changes in technique and equipment. We present a case with documentation of a normal coronary arterial tree ju
