✦ Synopsis

Chemical screening of the secondary metabolites from Halenia corniculata L. (CORNAZ), by LCjUV, LC/TSP-MS (thermospray), and LC/ES-MS (electrospray) was used for the targeted isolation of corniculoside (I), a new biosidic ester secoiridoid. The structure was established as 7~-[(E)-4'-~-~-~-g~ucopyranosy~)caffeoy~oxy]sweroside by 1Dand 2D-NMR, LC/UV, LC/MS, and FAB-MS data, in combination with chemical reactions.

Loganin (l), loganic acid (2), and periclymenoside (3) have been isolated from Loniceru periclymenum L. The structure of the new compound 3 and the identity of the others have been determined by chemical transformations and interpretation of the spectral data.
