Neutron spectroscopy has been employed to observe the crystal field in tt~ high-T© ~teonductor ErBaleu3Ox (6<x<7) as a direct probe of the local charge distribution around ~ Er site. Our results confirm in a very direct way the charge transfer reeds! which so far ~s been established by considering b
