## Abstract This study analyses, through the adoption of a seemingly unrelated regression approach, the temporal evolution of policy interactions among local authorities in England when allocating mental health resources. This new approach in health economics may shed light on the degree of interde

ABSTRACT
The bivariate probit model is frequently used for estimating the effect of an endogenous binary regressor (the βtreatmentβ) on a binary health outcome variable. This paper discusses simple modifications that maintain the probit assumption for the marginal distributions while introducing nonβnormal dependence using copulas. In an application of the copula bivariate probit model to the effect of insurance status on the absence of ambulatory health care expenditure, a model based on the Frank copula outperforms the standard bivariate probit model. ## Abstract The Negative Binomial Distribution (NBD) can be derived from several underlying stochastic processes. For the NBD to be useful in practice as a descriptive model, it would be of interest to know which underlying process it is characterizing. In this paper, methods for discriminating amo
