✦ Synopsis

Dedicated to Professor H . Zo1lingc.r on the occasion of his retirement (8. I. 87)

The effectiveness of copper(l1) triflate (copper(I1) trifluoromethanesulfonate) as a new dehydrating reagent for a variety of alcohols has been demonstrated. Based on several control experiments, a possible mechanism is suggested.
