✦ Synopsis

The preparation of 2-chloro-cyclopenta[2,1-b:3,4-b%]dipyridine-5-one and its reactions with various nucleophiles are reported. The resulting 3-substituted 4,5-diazafluorenones form complexes [CuL 2 ] + with copper(I) that are characterised by spectroscopy and microanalysis. The preparation of bis-(cyclopenta[2,1-b:3,4-b%]dipyridine-5-one-2-yl)ether and its complexes [ML] + (M=Cu, Ag) which are shown to be dimeric, are described.
