✦ Synopsis
The copper electrodeposition from the solid electrolyte copper(I) iodide was studied by galvanostatic, potentiodynamic and potentiostatic techniques. From the galvanostatic runs two dilTerent steps were found, interpreted in terms of a first deposition on the glassy carbon electrode, followed by 3-D or 2-D nucleation at high or low current densities, respectively. A similar hehaviour was found by the potentiostatic runs.

The electrochemical phase formation of copper on glassy carbon was studied by using linear sweep stripping voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry. The underpotential deposition (UPD) of copper is shown to occur either by nucleation growth processes or adsorption-desorption processes depending on the nat
