Free-radical copolymerization of 4-nitrophenyl methacrylate (NPMA) with styrene (STY) was carried out at 65Β°C in 2-butanone by using benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as initiator. NPMA was characterized by spectral and microelemental analysis. Homoand copolymers were characterized by IR, 1 H-, and 13 C-NMR st

β¦ Synopsis
Abstract4-Nitrophenyl acrylate (NPA) was prepared and polymerized in methyl ethyl ketone using benzoyl peroxide as initiator. Copolymers of NPA with styrene were also prepared. The homopolymer and copolymers were characterized by IR, 'H-NMR and "C-NMR; the copolymer compositions were determined by ' H-NMR analysis. The monomer reactivity ratios were evaluated by the application of the Fineman-Ross and Kelen-Tudos methods. The molecular weights of the polymers were determined by gel permeation chromatography. Thermogravimetric analyses of the polymers were performed in air.

## Abstract Freeβradical copolymerization of 4βnitrophenyl acrylate (NPA) with __n__βbutyl methacrylate (BMA) was carried out using benzoyl peroxide as an initiator. Seven different mole ratios of NPA and BMA were chosen for this study. The copolymers were characterized by IR, ^1^HβNMR, and ^13^CβN
