β¦ Synopsis
AMtract--Copolymerizations of styrene with lithium acrylate and with lithium methacrylate have been carried out in dimethylsulphoxide under homogeneous conditions. The monomer reactivity ratios have been determined by the Yezrielev-Brokhina-Roskin and the Kelen-Tiid6s methods. The Kelen-Tiid6s plots supported the applicability of the terminal model of copolymerization for the systems. The Q and e parameters of the Alfrey-Price scheme for the lithium salts were: QALi = 0.07, eAL i -----0.02; QMeLi = 0.62, eMeLi = --0.54. They indicate that replacement of a hydrogen atom at the vinyl group of the monomer by the methyl group leads to a marked increase of Q and a decrease of e.
