โฆ Synopsis
The Adam-Gibbs theor3, of cooperative relaxation m glass forming liquids is cast in differc:a~dal form. The diffcrentml equattons are examples of the differential equations of the renor:-~,',ization group, r, is ~hown that generalization of the Adam-Gibbs relation arise naturally from these differential equations. The size of the cooperative rearranging region is determined by the configuration restrictions associated with amorphous packings that can be described by the configurational entropy of the melt. The relation between the linear response of a system in thermal equilibrium to an external disturbance and fluctuations of relevant physical quantities in equilibrium are generalized to constrained systems.
