โœฆ Synopsis

Embouchure dystonia is a focal task-specific dystonia affecting musicians who play wind instruments. It is characterized by uncontrollable and involuntary muscle contractions around the mouth. 1 This task-specific dystonia is occupationally induced by extensive, repetitive, and effortful movements. 2 In most cases, this disorder is not painful, frequently includes other oral tasks, and often produces significant disability with no identifiable sensory trick. 3,4 We describe a case of embouchure dystonia of the lower lip that occurred while playing the tuba. The use of exposure to cold temperature produced transient and considerable symptom relief.
