β¦ Synopsis
The construction and use of a cooled slow-scan charged coupled device (CCD) camera imaging fluorimeter for the detection of fluorescently labelled samples presented in different solid phase formats is described . The versatility of the system allows the detection and quantitation of samples presented in microtitre plates and irregular arrays such as blotting membranes and electrophoretic gels . This is an advantage over conventional photomultiplier based plate fluorimeters whose detector geometry and sample presentation allow the detection of samples presented only in predefined arrays .
