## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** Glycerol (Gly) a by‐product from biodiesel production was impregnated onto the surface of expanded vermiculite (EV) and reacted to produce a highly efficient absorbent to remove oils spilt on water. **RESULTS:** Expanded vermiculite was impregnated with glycerol at EV/G
