β¦ Synopsis
2004 Halogenation Halogenation O 0235 Conversion of Epoxides into Halohydrins with Elemental Halogen Catalyzed by Thiourea. -Thiourea is found to be an efficient catalyst for the ring opening of epoxides (I) and (IV) with iodine or bromine under mild conditions to give Ξ²-iodoand Ξ²-bromohydrins in good to high yields. In contrast to known methods using no thiourea catalyst, the present variant proceeds with high regio-and stereoselectivities. -(SHARGHI*, H.; ESKANDARI, M.
