## Abstract We have validated our previously described model for scale‐up of packed‐bed solid‐state fermenters (Weber et al., 1999) with experiments in an adiabatic 15‐dm^3^ packed‐bed reactor, using the fungi __Coniothyrium minitans__ and __Aspergillus oryzae__. Effects of temperature on respirati

✦ Synopsis
Mobil's fluid-bed Methanol-to-Gasoline (MTG) process was successfully scaled-up, from 0.04m diameter reactor, through O.lm. to 0.6m diameter demonstration plant. Gas tracer responses in cold flow models were interpreted by a one-dimensional axial dispersion model, and combined with reaction kinetics to develop a conversion model.
