I was always told when you got a phone call in the middle of the night, it brought bad news. So it was when I vaguely heard my phone buzzing on our bedside table. I grunted and swore. My hand went fishing around for it in the dark. Amanda mumbled and grunted telling me to answer the fucking phone.
So started the most hectic three days of my life. My mother and I were once so close but now estranged, was loving a woman so evil? This is a journey of reconciliation a mother I had put aside so I could live with the woman I had fallen in love with. What didn't help was that Amanda was a high-profile government civil servant, not indispensable but important enough for the government of the day to turn a blind eye to her private life. I was a writer, of fiction stories who had by sheer luck written several best sellers, the last two staying in the top ten of the NYT best sellers list for over 3 months. So much for low profiles.
