✦ Synopsis

We have developed two convenient methods for hydrolysis of 2-oxazolidinones to the corresponding vicinal aminoalcohols. N-Substituted oxazolidinones can be readily hydrolyzed using Dowex 1Γ—8-100 resin. N-Unsubstituted oxazolidinones cannot be hydrolyzed using Dowex resins but are effectively hydrolyzed using polymer supported ethylenediamine.
