β¦ Synopsis
A 77-year-old man complains of a rapidly enlarging mass of the left auricle that he first noticed six weeks earlier. Except for some recent oozing from the mass, he denies any other symptoms. In particular, he denies pain or episodes of facial paresis.
Examination reveals an exophytic tumor that is confined to the auricle with extension to the junction of the lobule and infra-auricular skin. In addition, a 2 cm mass can be palpated between the mastoid tip and the angle of the mandible. There is no skin fixation, and facial nerve function is normal.
