✦ Synopsis

Superconducting thin Nb films are deposited on top of a regular array of vertical carbon nanotubes, grown by plasma enhanced vapor deposition. The carbon nanotubes are expected to serve as columnar pinning sites for vortices in the (mixed-state) superconductor. Electric transport measurements reveal a suppression of vortex flow as well as an enhancement of the critical depinning current due to the presence of carbon nanotubes.
