✦ Synopsis

The controUed complexation of the emeraldine base of poly(o-toluidine) with palladium(H) compounds was achieved in an organic solvent to afford structurally defined conjugated polymer complexes. Two coordination sites are used for complexation in the case of PdCOAc)2 ¢t PdCI2(MeCN) 2, in contrast to only one coordination site available for the pailadium(l~ complex besing the tridmtate ligand, Two imine moieties axe capable of participating in the complexation in the former e~e, possibly affording a cross-linked d,n-conjugated netwod¢ system. On the contrary, a d,~-conjugated single-strand system is considwed to be formed in the latter case.
