✦ Synopsis
The isotropic and anisotropic Raman spectra of a pure liquid and a dilute isotopic solution are compared. In the light of the theories of Tarjus and Bratos, the experimental results allow a quantitative separation of the self and distinct pair vibrational contributions to the isotropic spectrum of the pure substance_ It is found that the anisotropic spectrum depends only on the self vibrational term.
